  • The Ancient Tribe is suffering from extreme famine in the cold season, with cats forced to gnaw on bones to satiate their hunger
  • Half Moon (referred to as Stoneteller) mentions that an elder, Broken Feather, passed away in the previous season
  • Half Moon is the only remaining cat who remembers the lake, making her the oldest in the Tribe. Second oldest is Lion's Roar, who was born shortly after the Tribe arrived from the lake
    • Note - Half Moon says she has lived "three times as many" moons in the mountains as at the lake. However, she was appointed Stoneteller when she had barely graduated from being a Softpaw, being around 1 year old. This would imply she is only 4 years old, but with how old and frail she is portrayed as being, this makes little sense.

  • Gray Wing and Clear Sky were kits in the previous Greenleaf, and are stated to barely remember the warm season. They were likely born in moon 6 of yr 0, making them 1 moon old at the height of Greenleaf
  • Jagged Peak is old enough to eat solid prey but is still considered a kit, likely making him around 3-4 moons old
  • Stoneteller announces that some of the Tribe will leave to follow The Sun Trail in a half-moon
    • Shaded Moss, Dappled Pelt, Tall Shadow, and Clear Sky express interest in leaving
  • A few sunrises later, Bright Stream and Gray Wing hunt together. When they return, Fluttering Bird starves to death, and Quiet Rain tells Gray Wing to leave the mountains
  • Tensions rise between the cats who wish to leave and the cats who wish to stay, and the Tribe casts stones to vote. The travelling side wins the vote, but Gray Wing decides he will stay behind

  • Dewy Leaf scorns Moon Shadow for leaving her, since she is expecting his kits
  • Gray Wing takes Jagged Peak on his first hunting expedition, and ends up having to save him from an eagle
  • Jagged Peak sneaks out to follow the travelling cats, and Gray Wing is forced to leave and follow him. He saves the kit from eagles once again, and after a few sunrises they catch up with the group of journeying cats
  • Hawk Swoop, Jackdaw's Cry, and Falling feather are stated to be younger than Gray Wing & Clear Sky, but older than Jagged Peak

  • In a vision, Flutter tells River Ripple to let her go. Night urges him to stay near the river, but he longs to be part of a group again
  • Wind and Gorse report that Thorn and Dew, some of their former friends, are now acting hostile over prey thanks to Clear Sky
  • River Ripple meets Gray Wing's group for the first time
  • Dogs attack the moor camp, and Thunder is missing.
  • Thunder was hunting with Shattered Ice, but the two were menaced by Leaf and Petal. Falling Feather stops the altercation before it escalates. When they return to the moor, they help rescue Jagged Peak from the dogs, and Wind and Gorse save Jagged Peak's life when his hiding spot caves in
  • The cats descend into a spat over wether Tall Shadow should still be their leader
  • Clear Sky threatens River Ripple, who doesn't understand the need for marking borders

Night's wound is infected very badly, and the moor cats send Dappled Pelt to heal Night's wounds. Dappled Pelt likes the river, but Night is against inviting another cat to stay
  • A catastrophic fire ravages the forest, and Moon Shadow is terribly wounded by the flames
  • Thunder helps to save Moon Shadow's life, and River Ripple leads the cats out of the blaze
  • Gray Wing inhales smoke, giving him asthma
  • Clear Sky's cats shelter on the moor until the fire dies out. Clear Sky leaves Frost behind, as he sustained a bad burn on his leg from the fire. Thunder decides to move to the forest with his father
  • Tall Shadow passes leadership to Gray Wing
  • Gray Wing and Turtle Tail become mates

  • Bluefur faces off with Oakheart on a patrol, but the RiverClan tom seems strangely unbothered by her
  • Tigerkit, Mistkit, and Nightkit are born to Leopardfoot and Pinestar. The kits are noted to be born very early, and they are very sickly and weak
  • Lionpaw sneaks out of camp, and he witnesses Pinestar being pet by a twoleg. Pinestar lies, saying he was investigating a tresspassing kittypet
  • Pinestar goes to confide in Shanty about the kits, but both of them are hit by a monster. Shanty dies, and Pinestar loses his eighth life.
  • When Pinestar visits his kits, he is barely able to look at them
  • Bluefur, Rosepaw, and Sweetpaw all get belly sickness from a poisoned rabbit. Bluefur wakes up early to go to the dirtplace, but scents Lionpaw and Pinestar at the exit of camp. When Lionpaw returns, he smells of Twolegplace
  • Crookedjaw helps Willowpaw prepare for her warrior assessment, which she passes later in the day. She and her sister become warriors, Willowbreeze and Graypool
  • Brightsky has her kits while sick and she dies alongside three of them, leaving just Leopardkit

  • Bluefur leads her first hunting patrol, consisting of Adderfang, Thistlepaw, Smallear, and Robinwing. Thistlepaw messes around and tries to sabotage Bluefur's leadership multiple times, being scolded for it by Adderfang
  • A dog ambushes Bluefur's patrol and Thistlepaw fights it off. To honor his courage, Pinestar makes him a warrior, Thistleclaw
  • Sweetpaw passes away from the belly sickness
  • Lionpaw witnesses Pinestar with a twoleg once again, and Pinestar admits that he can no longer be leader. While he is away, ThunderClan engages in a territory skirmish with RiverClan. ThunderClan wins, preventing RiverClan from taking any more of their territory
  • Pinestar returns after the battle is already won. He steps down as leader, abandoning ThunderClan
  • Sunstar becomes the new leader with Tawnyspots as his deputy. He makes Rosepaw into a warrior, Rosetail
