  • Bluekit, restless after many nights in a stuffy, overcrowded nursery, is taken to see the ravine by the deputy Sunfall
  • When ThunderClan's dawn patrol reports that WindClan is stealing prey, Pinestar makes Bluepaw and Snowpaw apprentices to distract them
  • Bluepaw's mentor, Stonepelt, shows her how to collect moss. Leopardpaw teases her, but also shares prey with her, forming a friendship
  • After Bluepaw catches a squirrel on her first hunting mission, Stonepelt decides to take her to the gathering. However, it overwhelms her, and she doesn't remember much about it
  • When Snowpaw catches a vole to try and one-up Bluepaw, Goosefeather sees an omen in its fur, insisting that ThunderClan must attack WindClan's camp and destroy their medicine supplies
  • In the raid, Moonflower is killed by Hawkheart and Leopardpaw is gravely injured
  • Pinestar feels immense guilt over Moonflower's death, and confesses to Jake he doesn't know if he can trust Goosefeather anymore. Jake asks if Talltail was injured. After talking with Jake, Pinestar meets Shanty for the first time

  • Newtspeck injured her shoulder after an altercation with Pixie and Marmalade, who find out where Russetpaw and boulder are
  • The twoleg place cats ambush ShadowClan's camp in an attempt to "rescue" Russetpaw and Boulder, and Yellowfang witnesses Raggedpelt killing his father Hal
  • Crookedpaw has his ear nicked by Mapleshade during batthe training

  • Russetfur and boulder become warriors
  • After saving Softwing and Shellheart from a dog, Oakheart becomes a warrior
  • Raggedpelt comes up with a plan to defeat the Carrionplace rats. This plan fails, resulting in Cedarstar losing his eighth life
  • Sunfall scolds Bluepaw for how she's been behaving since her mother died, but decides to take her to the gathering anyways
  • At the gathering, Raggedpelt is promoted to deputy and Stonetooth retires
  • Bluepaw meets Crookedpaw at a gathering and the two talk a lot, earning scolding from the older warriors. Afterwards, Snowpaw is accusatory towards Bluepaw for being friendly with a RiverClan cat, while Mapleshade chastises Crookedpaw for similar reasons
  • Bluepaw accidentally nicks Goldenpaw's ear during training. Shortly after, Adderfang's patrol reports that RiverClan is invading sunningrocks
  • In the ensuing skirmish, Hailstar loses his eigth life, and Bluepaw and Snowpaw defeat Crookedpaw in battle. When RiverClan loses, they smash the ice so ThunderClan cannot cross the river.

  • Pinestar is noted to only have two remaining lives
  • Shanty shows Pinestar her home, and he falls asleep in the backyard. While sleeping, Doestar warns him that his unborn son will be a threat to ThunderClan
  • Shortly after Leopardfoot moves to the nursery, Bluefur and Snowfur become warriors. They escort Featherwhisker to retrieve herbs, where Bluefur witnesses Pinestar speaking with Jake in the twolegplace
  • Graypaw and Willowpaw apprenticed to Owlfur and Brightsky
  • Crookedpaw bonds with Willowpaw over spending time away from RiverClan and having their loyalties questioned

EVENTS

  • Frogkit and Sunkit are born to Lakeshine and Cedarpelt. Shimmerpelt moves to the nursery, expecting Piketooth's kits
  • Crookedpaw joins a patrol to help drive away a dog. However, it runs for the Beech Copse, where the apprentices are training. Crookedpaw saves Willowpaw from the dog, and she becomes smitten with him
  • Crookedpaw and Willowpaw witness a ThunderClan patrol at Sunningrocks. Hailstar makes Crookedpaw into a warrior, Crookedjaw, so he can fight in the battle for Sunningrocks
  • Mapleshade chastises Crookedjaw for his closeness with Willowpaw, and Goosefeather warns him of following the wrong path
  • At a gathering, Pinestar redirects anger at kittypets towards the other clans, causing tension. Later, Pinestar takes Bluefur to the moonstone, running into Reedfeather and Talltail on the way. Talltail is stated to not yet be deputy.
  • Ottersplash and Leopardfoot are both expecting kits
  • Blackkit and Skykit are born somewhat early
  • When Crookedjaw leads his first patrol, twolegs almost capture Graypaw
  • At the moonstone, Bluefur has a nightmare about drowning. When she returns, she finds that Thrushpelt has cleaned her nest for her
  • RiverClan re-takes Sunningrocks, and Brightsky becomes sick. Crookedjaw and Oakheart sit on watch at Sunningrocks, but they only see Bluefur and no ThunderClan cats attack them

  • Bluefur faces off with Oakheart on a patrol, but the RiverClan tom seems strangely unbothered by her
  • Tigerkit, Mistkit, and Nightkit are born to Leopardfoot and Pinestar. The kits are noted to be born very early, and they are very sickly and weak
  • Lionpaw sneaks out of camp, and he witnesses Pinestar being pet by a twoleg. Pinestar lies, saying he was investigating a tresspassing kittypet
  • Pinestar goes to confide in Shanty about the kits, but both of them are hit by a monster. Shanty dies, and Pinestar loses his eighth life.
  • When Pinestar visits his kits, he is barely able to look at them
  • Bluefur, Rosepaw, and Sweetpaw all get belly sickness from a poisoned rabbit. Bluefur wakes up early to go to the dirtplace, but scents Lionpaw and Pinestar at the exit of camp. When Lionpaw returns, he smells of Twolegplace
  • Crookedjaw helps Willowpaw prepare for her warrior assessment, which she passes later in the day. She and her sister become warriors, Willowbreeze and Graypool
  • Brightsky has her kits while sick and she dies alongside three of them, leaving just Leopardkit
  • Cloudpaw apprenticed to Raggedpelt

  • Rosepaw has recovered from the belly sickness, while Sweetpaw has not
  • Crookedjaw confronts Brambleberry about having possibly seen an omen about him, but she says nothing
  • Bluefur leads her first hunting patrol, consisting of Adderfang, Thistlepaw, Smallear, and Robinwing. Thistlepaw messes around and tries to sabotage Bluefur's leadership multiple times, being scolded for it by Adderfang
  • A dog ambushes Bluefur's patrol and Thistlepaw fights it off. To honor his courage, Pinestar makes him a warrior, Thistleclaw
  • Sweetpaw passes away from the belly sickness
  • Lionpaw witnesses Pinestar with a twoleg once again, and Pinestar admits that he can no longer be leader. While he is away, ThunderClan engages in a territory skirmish with RiverClan. ThunderClan wins, preventing RiverClan from taking any more of their territory
  • Pinestar returns after the battle is already won. He steps down as leader, abandoning ThunderClan
  • Sunstar becomes the new leader with Tawnyspots as his deputy. He makes Rosepaw into a warrior, Rosetail
  • Pinestar is adopted by Shanty's old twolegs, becoming a kittypet named Pine
  • Snowfur reveals to Bluefur that she's expecting kits, and Thistleclaw is the father
  • Not long after Pinestar leaves, Nightkit and Mistkit succumb to weakness before turning one moon old
